We have worked on several projects during the last years such as bringing trash/recycle bins to the student parking lots, trash pickups, cafeteria audits, maker recycling, etc. to improve the environment around our school.
We frequently collect all kinds of markers including dry and wet erase ones from all the classes in the high school. We then count and ship them to Crayola. Crayola ColorCycle program recycles all of these markers in order to educate and promote eco-friendly practices across North America. To learn more about their program, visit the link in the Resources Tab.
We also frequently go out to the students parking lots for trash pick-ups. This gives us a chance to keep our parking lots as well as the surrounding trees and the ponds clean. If you would like to join us for the trash pick-ups, keep an eye on the slides on the TVs in the hallways! We also award community service hours to the participants!
We identified that there are no trash cans in the student parking lots and a lot of trash that gets thrown here usually ends up in the trees and bushes nearby or in the ponds and the beach. To prevent this from happening, we communicated with Mr. Harrigan and the Department of Public Works, Natick to bring trash and recycle bins to both junior and senior parking lots. This project is still in progress due to some legal problems regarding the clean up of the bins.
