Every summer since I was 11, I have been going to an overnight sleepaway camp in Brookline, NH. The camp is called Camp Tevya, and it is my home away from home. At first, I was very nervous, but eventually got used to it and had so much fun. This coming summer (2018), I will be going for my 5th year as a camper. Next summer, I will take the trip to Israel through camp for 5 weeks and become a CIT, short for counselor in training. This summer, I will be going for 7 weeks, which is the longest session available. Through these past summers, I have been fortunate enough to learn more about myself, the Jewish history, and have been able to meet friends and make friendships that will last a lifetime. I am sad that this is my final year, but hope to come back and visit once again, or even become a counselor!
Ever since I was young, my aunts and uncles who live in Florida have invited us to come and spend a vacation or a long weekend there. But, we haven't always been able to explore the cities or attractions on our own. This past vacation was different. My family took the trip down to Orlando and visited Universal Studios and Disney World for the week. It was my first time at the parks, and it was so much fun. The scenery in the park and the variations of rides made the parks really stand out from other theme parks around the country. It was an enjoyable vacation filled with fun and warm weather. Overall, it was a fun experience and would go back if given the option!
During April break, my family travels to California to visit my grandparents on my dad's side. We always swim in their pool and often visit beaches and go out to lunch and dinner. For as long as I can remember, we have been visiting Disneyland and the California Adventure theme park next to Disneyland. The parks always bring back memories of past years and experiences. While we may go to these parks, we also relax and enjoy the vacation. Each year my uncle and grandfather take me to In-N-Out Burger. I only get to go once a year, so going to In-N-Out is alway fun and is always on my checklist for the vacation. I can't wait until the next time I can visit my grandparents in California!
Right before the school year starts at the end of August, my family takes a trip to Maine for a week. We go to a place called Point Sebago, a resort and campground with daily activities and night time entertainment. We go there with around 5 other families, and hang out with them each day. We usually go to the lake to swim and hang out, and also make s'mores and have pot luck dinners where everyone brings some food. Throughout the week, some activities give chances to win prizes, like cash or the Point Sebago "I Won It" t-shirt, a t-shirt prize that changes in design every year. The week lets me see family friends that we don't see often, and the resort is a lot of fun. To learn more about Point Sebago, click here.
